Plans for a pair of care homes look set to get the green light next week (11 August 2021).
Kings Road Investments Ltd, supported by Strathmore Estates, submitted plans to North East Lincolnshire Council earlier this year for development on a site at the corner of Louth Road and Station Road in New Waltham.
Planning permission is sought for a three-storey care home comprising 58 extra care apartments for the frail elderly.
Communal and staff facilities would be provided on the ground floor, such as stores, lounges/bistro, kitchen, office, guest suite, refuse store, laundry, scooter store, toilets and staff room.
Enclosed gardens would be provided to the south and east of the site, including a potting shed, external seating and games areas.
The application will go before the council’s Planning Committee on 11 August and is recommended for approval, subject to conditions, in an officer’s report prepared for the meeting.
The report said: “The proposal is for much needed extra care accommodation within the area. The proposal is of good design and responds to local context and constraints.”
A second application from Kings Road Investments and Strathmore Estates, covering a neighbouring site, will also be considered at the meeting.
The scheme proposes a 66-bed private nursing care home for residents requiring more intensive, round the clock care.
The plans include communal and staff facilities on each floor, such as stores, lounges, kitchens, office, hair salon, medical rooms, laundry, toilets and terraced areas. Enclosed gardens would be provided around the site, featuring a bowling green and external seating areas.
This application is also recommended for approval, subject to conditions, at the meeting.
